Detlev Hjuler, from Flensburg on the German border with Denmark, works as a multi-disciplinary artist. He and his wife, Mama Bar, are painters, sculptors, performance artists, and sound artists. Their absurd, vaguely disturbing work is assembled from household junk, pornography, low-tech recordings of speech (both cut up and narrative), pop culture debris, and collage.
