Everyday experience in this so called modern, especially technical and scientifical world is that our basic human needs and perceptions interfer with those more or less abstract and formal reality constructions which come from our minds.

While sleeping, these two seperate streams of conciousness have to be incorporated to get an integrated awareness again. Sometimes a pleasure for our mind, but, as we experience, emotionally not easy from time to time as well - Dream Incorporation.

The principal instruments are trumpet (F. Wilke) and modular synthesizer (M. Reineke), as well as various other acoustic (field recordings, harmonica, overtone flute, percussion, recorders) and electronic (no-input effect units, analogue synthesizers, software synthesizers) sound sources.
The result is a field of contexts cornered by elements of ambient, contemporary electroacoustics, drone, dub, free improvisationand microtonality.

It's that time of year again. Nights are growing darker.
There's a chill in the air, eggs are getting severely nogged and turkeys and their vegetarian equivalents are starting to get nervous.

Earlier this year, we put a call out for submissions of original festive and wintery music of any genre for this, our fifth BFW Christmas Album.

The response has been fantastic - 18 songs by 17 artists around the world, and a nice broad range of styles.

Listening to ASIC's music, one enters urban canyons called Bass, Beat, Poststep, Glo-Fi and Techno.

ASIC constantly expands the borders of his setup, understanding it as an open instrument. He modulates and molders his sounds, beat structures and athmospheric figures endlessly. Thus, ASIC’s musical journey can hardly be anticipated.

ASIC creates his music out of the moment, the tracks of the TAPA and PENTAPRISM EPs are rooted in live sessions. ASIC moves through soft, harsh or wild city scapes that are ever evolving, temptingly rough and delicate at the same time. A night time walk with this city’s soundtrack is a journey full of surprises and twists. While skyline is of mere architectural beauty, the surfaces are full of mechanical decay and organic growth. Moody sounds can be lurking behind every corner.

Coming from his year-long performing routine, ASIC has recorded two EPs that are being released via Hula Honeys and sub_perversion simultaneously. While the TAPA EP on subper.ch explores the deeper Poststep influences, the PENTAPRISM EP on Hula Honeys opens the musical spectrum towards Glitch-Hop, Techno and Bass.

Both releases are available as digital downloads. The releases are accompanied by PDF-Files that can be laser cutted on arbitrary material, similar to a vinyl record. The necessary script was developed and written by Amanda Ghassaei. He takes samples, glitches and noises, stirs everything in his subatomic blender, and the result is a beautiful and obviously juicy cocktail.
(It should be noted that “Particle decelerator” sees the light as a video album, and for this reason it should preferably first be seen before being heard.)

“8mm” welcomes us in a half darkened room, surrounded by sounds of electric noises and tinkling bottles hanging from the ceiling played by an indefinite presence which lurks in the shadows, hypotetically filming our unsettlement.

With “Expectation no expectation” we go deep underground, together with a crowd of commuters waiting, chit chatting, minding the gaps. As they wait, as we wait, time itself seems to wait, immobilizing itself in gloomy background notes and sudden bleeps lying them, us, in eternal wait.
“From my point of view” is a cadenced remainder of Manb’s way of seeing things, a journey in search of echoes of memories bouncing in his brain. A tune entirely based on delays and pounding pads, albeit melodical in a weird, hypnotical way.

In “Lomo” we are deliberately deprived of a rhytmic continuum. The beat is always on the verge of taking off but that never happens, just like a jammed mechanical device making music. Only in the second half the tune seems to start acting normally, but is just an illusion as everything soon returns to be hiccupping until the end.

“Venezia” lets us imagine the magnificence of the floating city by making us row a gondola through its canals. Through relaxed, repetitive patterns and low frequencies we ideally sail under bridges, breathe salty water, feel the wind blowing in our faces in a calm and soothing way, as we were alone in an empty Venice, feeling free to watch and enjoy the beauty surrounding us.

“07 11 2014” the last track, is also is the longest. A more than fourteen minutes marathon, a long evolving rhythm, a crescendo of beats that takes us by the hand and leads us out of Manb’s particle decelerator.

It was a ride we definitely enjoyed, we are sure you’ll enjoy it too.

The compositions were created spontaneously and collectively, almost without the preceding discussion. He has made many ethnographical expeditions in different parts of Africa, Asia and Europe, produced several films about indigenous peoples and studied their native music. This is his first release on Dubophonic.

“Enkang” means “homestead” in Maasai language. Maasai is one of the very few tribes who have retained most of their traditions, lifestyle and lore. “Enkang” is also the name of DubRaJah’s EP, which was recorded in the period from Autumn 2013 till Summer/Autumn 2014 in Arusha (Tanzania), Stone Town (Zanzibar, Tanzania), Wete (Pemba, Tanzania) and Moscow (Russia). DubRaJah fuses a deep digital dub style with traditional African melodies and chants from the people of Maasai, Datooga, Hadza, Pemba and Zanzibar, incorporating also samples of Mad Professor on “Eyasi Dub” and “Zanzibar Dub”.
