The sound based on 100% field-recordings, typically left completely unprocessed. This 15-minute piece was recorded in Isla Vista, California, at George Orwell's glass house. The recording is very raw and rough, because of heavy wind, and very basic recording equipment: a Nikon digital camera. Danielle and Will only did a minimal mastering, so you have a pure and pristine acoustic impression of this particular spot. The recording was made in between the house (front cover) and the ocean (back cover).Put on your headphones, and let yourself travel to the coast of California. Feel the wind on your skin, the water on your feet, and know what it felt like to be in this particular place at that particular time.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3332
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3332

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/George+Orwell's+Glass+House/3332
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Grey Surfaces http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Grey+Surfaces/3331 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Off Land

released on restingbell by Off Land
With "Grey Surfaces" Tim Dwyer, the person behind Off Land, is back on Resting Bell with another beautiful release. The release contains five new compositions by Off Land and two remixes, done by Placement and Ennio Mazzon.Compared to his last release "Encounter Point" "Grey Surfaces" is much more reduced, compact and monolithic. Each track has a kind of deep fundamental droning with field-recording fragments, shifting melodies and glitches in addtion to it all. The release is carefully arranged and placed to a single peaceful 40-minute voyage. The two additional remixes give the tracks a slightly new coat of paint, leading to a noisier, harsher direction, but treat the source material with respectfulness and understanding.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3331
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3331

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Grey+Surfaces/3331
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
4.0 subtle distorted guitar drones http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/4.0+subtle+distorted+guitar+drones/3330 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Glenn Ryszko

released on restingbell by Glenn Ryszko
Glenn Ryszko is a student at the academy of visual arts Maastricht. After having played several instruments in various musical groups, he decided to start a more experimental project on his own. Glenn creates sound by manipulating instrumentation and environmental recordings, using electric guitar, fieldrecordings and custom software. On "4.0 subtle distorted guitar drones" Glenn presents 4 superb minimal tracks based on distorted guitar tones. The sound shifts from very quiet passages to more loud and harsh ones and back again. Overtones and shimmering fragments are beautiful layered over constant, slightly shifting drones. You can still hear the original source of the tone at some points. But the main time you are covered with a flow of warm drones. Please listen to it with headphones. You won't regret it.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3330
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3330

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/4.0+subtle+distorted+guitar+drones/3330
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
A Life In Abstract Colours http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/A+Life+In+Abstract+Colours/3328 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Ian D Hawgood

released on restingbell by Ian D Hawgood
After a bunch of great releases under several monikers on a wide range of labels like luvsound, headphonica, u-cover, experimedia, best kept secret, lunar flower and many more, Ian Hawgood is back home with a stunning release on Resting Bell."A Life In Abstract Colours" contains 5 pieces with a duration of nearly 60 minutes. It is a monolithic work. Walls of guitar- and piano-drones are shifting slightly from one ear to the other. Compared to the earlier Resting Bell-releases, it’s a pure and stripped-down composition. No field-recordings are used on these tracks, no little melodic lines are dripping into your ears as usual with his work, but instead focus on slowly evolving melodies carefully drawn out.Put your headphones on, close your eyes and sink to the ground.Cover-Image by Shawn Himmelberger, www.himmelbergerdesign.com
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3328
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3328

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/A+Life+In+Abstract+Colours/3328
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Pays Natal http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Pays+Natal/3326 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Julien Skrobek

released on restingbell by Julien Skrobek
Julien Skrobek was born in Paris. As a teacher, he naturally became interested in the process of memorization and his work revolves around the relation between music, silence and memory. The main question it asks is: If I hear a note of music, when do I need to hear the next one in order to be able to build upon its trace?"Pays Natal" works with that question over a duration of 35 minutes. It’s a meditative experience and a test for listening habits. You hear short drones, little tone-sketches and long sequences of silence. It’s a deep and fragile work which needs a lot of attention. But it regives you a clear and bright state of mind. Perhaps the best way to listen to it is with headphones and closed eyes. Please enjoy.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3326
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3326

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Pays+Natal/3326
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Stase / Contre Stase http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Stase+/+Contre+Stase/3325 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by D'incise

released on restingbell by D'incise
d'incise is wellknown by his releases on Zymogen, Test Tube or IOD. He is member of the Audioactivity music & visual collective founded in 2000 in Geneva (CH), releases electronica, electro-acoustic, experimental music solo or with various partners. And he also pratices free improvisation with the Diatribes-project and runs the Insubordinations netlabel, dedicate to improvised music. His release "Stase / Contre Stase" contains two pieces of live-recordings. "Stase", recorded during the Mapping Festival, April 2008, is a 22-minutes-piece, based on prepeared sounds from an acoustic guitar. Drones and textures are flickering around in the beginning, shifting from front to back and increase to a point, where all sound-elements seem to thicken to a massive, pending drone. "Contre Stase", recorded in an empty room in an empty house, deals with a similar concept. All sound-textures and layers concentrate on a point, but after a short periode of attraction, the elements seem to drift away, floating into open spaces.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3325
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3325

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Stase+/+Contre+Stase/3325
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Southern Recordings http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Southern+Recordings/3324 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Mensa

released on restingbell by Mensa
Mensa is a project by Edu Comelles from Barcelona, Spain. Mensa creates soundscapes in a dialogue between sound experimentation with high-tech possibilities and the natural enviroment, the landscape and the countryside."Southern Recordings" is the counterpart to Mensa's earlier work "Nordic Recordings". Mensa works again with subtle sound-structures, but this time the sound seems to be a bit warmer, and sometimes rougher, covered with a thin layer of dust. The soft delay flickers like the hot summer sun in the noon. Little sound-glitches are flying around like grasshoppers and some soundscapes are reflecting like the surface of a cold lake.As all of Edu's work, the sounds are produced to be listened outside, in public spaces or natural enviroments.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3324
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3324

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Southern+Recordings/3324
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
El Viaje Remixed http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/El+Viaje+Remixed/3323 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by The Cherry Blues Project

released on restingbell by The Cherry Blues Project
The Cherry Blues Project released their album "El Viaje" back in 2001, in 2007 they rework the material into two new ablums "El Viaje Revisited Vol.1 & Vol.2". But that was not the end of the travel. TCBP send the tracks to 4 artists around the world. And they did really great remixes. The results are very, very different. Mensa's reworks are very dense and warm. The Jc-remixes are more rhythmic and percussive. Peacemaker bulit a noise-manifesto on the fragments of the TCBP-material and Adrián Juárez transformed "Journey" into a trippy and relaxed electronica-piece.Please keep in mind that Adrian Juarez released a whole album with remixes from the album: "El Viaje: Adrian Juarez Remixes", released by audiotalaia netlabel.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3323
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3323

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/El+Viaje+Remixed/3323
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Canciones del Futuro http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Canciones+del+Futuro/3322 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Ghosts and Strings

released on restingbell by Ghosts and Strings
Ghosts and Strings is the current project by composer/sound artist/multi-instrumentalist David Molina, also known as "Los Veneremos".Molina studied and performed classical guitar for almost 12 years until he discovered the art of recording and scoring music for theatre, dance, film. 12 more years went by and the rest was history.Unlike the output of his experimental, noise, ambient group Transient, "Canciones del Futuro" is an epic, harmonic, cinematic, guitar driven, 3 track EP. Molina combines field-recordings, beautiful guitar lines, percussion, organic samples, flutes, and voice to create wonderful touching songs that fall some where in between Folk, Shoegaze, Electronica and Ambient.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3322
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3322

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Canciones+del+Futuro/3322
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
gray sky http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/gray+sky/3321 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by ryonkt

released on restingbell by ryonkt
After the release of "the world that was surrounded..."and works for Dog Eared Netlabel, Noise Joy, Mandorla and audiotalaia , Ryonkt comes up with the majestic 17-minute track "gray sky".Compared to the melody-driven, minimal-folk orientated "the world that was surrounded..."-release, "gray sky" is a dense and very continuous ambient-drone work. His sound is a patchwork of textures and tones with a focus on the interplay of timbre. These sounds are created through the blending of various instruments (12-string guitar, piano, violin, melodica, glockenspiel, various percussive instruments) and incidental found sounds. His recent release "a glass darkly" is an absolutly beautiful, meditative and touching piece of music. Haunting melodies, guitar- and piano-miniatures, fieldrecordings, string-drones are blended together carefully to a 22-minute expedition into a deep sea, a unknown forest or a pristine clearing just before sunset. Every sound evolves slowly from a little bud to a magical blossom, which fades away to become another flower again.A constant evolution, giving you the feeling of warmth, depth and oneness.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3320
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3320

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/a+glass+darkly/3320
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
tierra abierta http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/tierra+abierta/3319 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by calarco/juà¡rez

released on restingbell by calarco/juà¡rez
Two great artists from Argentinia teamed up for a massive 14-minute sound piece: Juan Jose Calarco and Adrian Juarez. Similar to their surroundings which contrast rural farmland against decaying industrial landscapes, the duo contrast various sounds and styles in ways that can be compared to the elegant and subtle color contrasts created by painters of fine abstract-expressionist art. Utilizing field recordings, found sounds, acoustic instrumentation and electronic soundscapes, their compositions take place in the wide field of musique concrete, experimental acoustic music, and electronic sound design."glare" is a huge piece of modern contemporary music. 5 tracks, about 60 minutes duration. From the first track, you can almost grab the intense and exciting spirit, being inherent in these pieces. Dark and gloomy melodies meet abstract glitches, lost radio frequencies, mysterious field recordings and other interferences. With all these ingredients, Jeremy and Jason create warm, nostalgic, and at times frightening scenery. It smells like old basements, dusty treasure chests, old physical instruments and yellowed pictures from your grandmother's photo album. The duo's growing catalog of "sound paintings", each creating a new experience, will see release through a growing list of labels including Resting Bell, Gruenrekorder, Abgurd, Gears of Sand, and their own imprint, Experimedia.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3317
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3317

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/glare/3317
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Calendaires http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Calendaires/3316 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Etienne Michelet

released on restingbell by Etienne Michelet
Etienne Michelet is a young composer and musician from France. After his self-released works "Bleu Vespéral" and "Le Piano à Coudre (The Sewing-Piano)", this is the first release of his ongoing "Calendaires"-project, which moves in the fields of minimal, ambient, experimental music and classical music. This "Calendaires"-release contains two parts, both together over 50 minutes long. Part one begins in a very dark context. Deep, growling bass sounds coming to the surface very slowly, bringing some motives and melodies with them. All these parts are layered together to a monumental and threatening wall of sound, which collapses and falls apart into a deep and dark soundscape again. Part two brings more light to the listener. Little chime-pieces lead to a wide field of melodies and sounds rushing around, bringing back memories.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3316
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3316

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Calendaires/3316
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
The Western Lands http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/The+Western+Lands/3315 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Tiago Sousa

released on restingbell by Tiago Sousa
The Western Lands, the western bank of the Nile: The frontier to a vast and inhospitable desert, today as in ancient times but also, in Egyptian mythology, the Land of the Dead: A space open to be filled, just as William Burroughs work published in 1987, with meaning, an open book' in many ways, readable from all possible angles, strung together by an ambience which transcends the limitations of chronological 'storytelling': Juggling with atmospheres, real and unreal memories, and steeped in occult symbolism. The road which leads to the Western Lands, Burroughs tells us, "is devious and unpredictable. Today's easy passage may be tomorrow's death trap. [] To reach the Western Lands is to achieve freedom from fear."Far more than an interpretation of Burroughs' text, Tiago Sousa's "The Western Lands" retraces itself the journey of an artist towards an unknown territory, aiming not at a conclusion', but a transition: Just as Burroughs intersects the present with an hallucinatory beyond', subverting our common notion of reality', Tiago Sousa's seven compositions draw upon both the noisy and the melodious, loose rhythms as well as hypnotic repetitions, parallels of equal value which never converge to one simple truth, one simple solution. It comes as no surprise, then, that "The Western Lands" also marks the introduction of a second voice to Sousa's musical spectrum the guitar, new counterpart to the piano, the former protagonist of his two earlier works ("Crepúsculo", 2006, and "Noite / Nuit", split with french artist SRX, 2007): From the frail harmonies of "The Writer" and "The Valley", to the harsh and discordant sounds of "Can any soul survive the searing fireball of an atomic blast", the sinister melancholy of "The Road to Western Lands" pieces like "Waghdas", "Ka" and "Centipede's City" always hold Sousa's work in an unsettling balance, never quite yielding to either side, unfolding a wide musical landscape we as listeners can wander in: A musical cut up', equally "devious and unpredictable", whose lost part are for us to find: "The most obvious road is almost always a fool's road."
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3315
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3315

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/The+Western+Lands/3315
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
The Coast By Train http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/The+Coast+By+Train/3314 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Regosphere

released on restingbell by Regosphere
Regosphere is Andrew Quitter, a really productive man from Portland, Oregon. He does harsh noise music with "Suburbia Melting" since 1998, is running the DumpsterScore Home Recordings label, and between all this, he finds time for his new project Regosphere with synth miniatures, dark ambient elements, field recordings and lo-fi noises.
The three pieces on "The Coast By Train" have a duration from 8 to 15 minutes. The ride starts with "In Darkened Hills", an ambient drone piece with oscilating synthesiser tones, tiny glitches and a modulating dark soundscape in the background. "The Ghost Were Hung By Wire" is a haunted and spooky piece, very athmospheric and very fragile. The last track "Black Keys" is a 15 minute melodic journey with field recording parts, synth patterns and a beautiful melody, crawling into your ear.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3314
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3314

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/The+Coast+By+Train/3314
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712

Encounter Point http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Encounter+Point/3313 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by Off Land

released on restingbell by Off Land
Off Land is an ambient project by Tim Dwyer. With ambient textures, little field recording snippets, spoken word phrases and classical instruments, Off Land takes place in the space between minimal, ambient and contemporary classical music.
With 8 pieces and 75 minutes duration, "Encounter Point" is a monumental ambient work. All pieces are arranged very carefully and with a great sense for intensity and tension. The single tracks seem quite minimal and pure on the surface, but when you listen carefully, you can hear layers of different sound sources. There are outdoor-field recording parts, layered with soft keyboard patterns that fade into a slight beat, combined with a shy guitar melody. Every layer is like a unique story line through the complete work.
It's a great acoustic quality when you've a huge depth of multiple sounds in the composition which don't crush you, but instead give you the possibility to explore more and more with each listening.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3313
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3313

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Encounter+Point/3313
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712

Live in Dresden http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Live+in+Dresden/3312 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on restingbell by The Love Songs

released on restingbell by The Love Songs
The Love Songs is the amazing one man arkestra Sven Swift. Swift lives in the North of Germany, runs the CDR- and Netlabel 12rec.net and writes reviews about free music at Phlow Magazine and his own blog RUBored.org.
In June 2007, Sven performed a 25-minutes live-set at the DIY 2.0 festival in Dresden. The whole set consists of one well-structured, tension-filled piece of drone music, created with analogue synthesizers and effect-feedback only (an exception is the little nightingale-chant framing the performance). The complete recording is naturally placed atop the sound of the audience and city underneath, people chatting around, an ambulance passing the venue. It was Alexander Peterhaensel who carefully recorded all of this.
Listening to his recording will engage you with the enormous dynamics and ornamental structures of Sven's composition. It starts with the solely song of a nightingale, very soft and quiet. After a little while there are the first background-noises more harsh, combined with harmonic keyboard-patterns. These soft patterns are raising to a deep and warm drone-blanket, sometimes disturbed by sharp noises and feedback. All this ebbs away in the end, as you hear the nightingale sing again.
Put on your headphones and take a time-warp back to a warm Summer's day in 2007…
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3312
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3312

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Live+in+Dresden/3312
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712

On his first release “katedra”, he operates with very minimal, subtle drones and little repetitive elements, shifting into each other. Originally written for a performance in cathedral space, the first two pieces (”katedra jeden”, “katedra dwa”) are very light, crystal and create a wide open, meditative soundscape. The third piece (”flora”) is a more dense production, just taking you back from the big, enormous “katedra”. All elements in this work are used very carefully and with a great sense for change at the right moment. Every tone seems to appear from a different direction, waving around, striving to heaven. All together a very deep, atmospheric and sublime creation.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3310
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3310

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/katedra/3310
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Realm of the New Day - Muhmood is Alexei Biryukoff’s one man project from Barnaul, experimenting with ambient soundscapes, noises, field recordings and heavy guitar music. They met in November 2007 when Victor came to Barnaul with a presentation of his book “A Glass Man and the Green Record”. At that time they decided to try to do 2 or 3 tracks to see what would come out. By June 2009 the four tracks EP is done. They continue to work on a long playing album that will include Victor’s poems and prose.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/3294
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/3294

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Rut/3294
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/enoughrecords/118
This is Industrial [PT] http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/This+is+Industrial+[PT]/3293 2025-12-30 9:23:48
released on enoughrecords by Sci-Fi Industries

released on enoughrecords by Sci-Fi Industries
Compilation of Portuguese projects active in 2008 surrounding the industrial genre, inspired by the industrialpt association. Unknown (LONDON) & Tha Silent Partner (BOSTON) have joined forces to up the instrumental game amongst hip hop. “After years of hearing sub-par beats spat on by sub par rappers we have decided to form MUTE too combat these serious crimes against music.”

Just a little heads up to those who know jack bout this project...

Basically me and TSP wanted to do a beat CD to send to record company's. We formed MUTE. We decided that a beat CD would be too generic so the beat cd mute-ated into an LP with a theme told by the beats (The theme will be revealed soon). We wanted to create summat that an mc could sit and write too but also a record that someone who aint a rapper can hear it and not get bored by a loop that dont change for 12 tracks.

we hope you enjoy!!
