http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Forest+From+The+Trees++(Fixed)/7044 Sat, 06 Feb 2010 23:37:03 +0100
released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Revy

released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Revy
The whole affair begins with a psychedelic techno number that builds and builds and builds from our good friend Revy, himself no stranger to the Northwest. As further proof that he can bust out some bleeping good music, be sure to keep an ear out for his own upcoming label early next year. Up next is a hard to define track from label founder sea.envy with a growling arpeggiated baseline that will leave you wanting more for sure. Bringing it home and in fine fashion is a chugger from newcomer Deformaty. Known up and down the left coast for mixing the best of the beats and breaks, he shows us here exactly what techno should sound like. A real treat for your feet, this track should fit well into any peaktime set and is sure to impress.
Tags:TECHNO,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/7044
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/7044

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Forest+From+The+Trees++(Fixed)/7044
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Manifest_Northwest_Recordings/1254
Make Believe Color (Fixed) http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Make+Believe+Color+(Fixed)/7043 Sat, 06 Feb 2010 23:36:55 +0100
released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Deformaty

released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Deformaty
Continuing to pioneer the psy tech sound, our main man Deformaty delivers in spades. As a special gift, we are pleased to present to you our sophmore release, the "Make Believe Color" EP, just in time for the holidaze. Chock full of delicious bass stabs and mechanized beats complimented by spacey breakdowns and builds, "This Song Does Not Exist" goes deeper than you know! On to the main event, the title track has a little something for everyone. In "Make Believe Color", impressive builds lead up to a rolling bassline complete with echoed synth lines and lush pads that are as tasty as they are melodic. This release cements the fact that 2009 has proven to be a promising year for Deformaty, and there is no doubt that the coming years will be even more impressive.
Tags:TECHNO,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/7043
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/7043

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Make+Believe+Color+(Fixed)/7043
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Manifest_Northwest_Recordings/1254
Duplicity (Fixed) http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Duplicity+(Fixed)/7042 Sat, 06 Feb 2010 23:36:47 +0100
released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Chris Firenze

released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Chris Firenze
Starting the new year off proper, Portland's minimal-tech hero Chris Firenze brings three very bangin' tracks to the table. After successful releases on SubSensory Recordings last year as well as a frantic DJ/Live PA schedule, we couldn't be happier to have him aboard for this stunning release. Kicking it off, 'Some May Say' is a bass heavy tech house deal with a glitchy synth line that finishes as strong as it starts. On to the real crowd pleaser - the title track 'Duplicity' is catchy tune with a kickin' melody, a true showing of this man can do! Rounding off this release is the heavy edit which is a killer reworking that comes bigger and harder, and is the perfect alternative when the original won't cut it. If you like your techno with substance and style, Mr. Firenze won't disappoint.
Tags:TECHNO,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/7042
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/7042

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Duplicity+(Fixed)/7042
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Manifest_Northwest_Recordings/1254
HEL EN http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/HEL+EN/7040 Sat, 06 Feb 2010 23:07:54 +0100
released on kreislauf by Kasper Knigge

released on kreislauf by Kasper Knigge
To be played at random and endless mode in any player that can play without space between the numbers.
Tags:EXPERIMENTAL, DRONE,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/7040
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/7040

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/HEL+EN/7040
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/kreislauf/605
Hide And Seek (Fixed) http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Hide+And+Seek+(Fixed)/7036 Sat, 06 Feb 2010 22:47:25 +0100
released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Joe Nemo

released on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Joe Nemo
Mr. Nemo has been a long time personal favorite, and we couldn't be more excited to bring him into the fold. This funky minimal stomper of an EP is filled to the brim with block rockin' beats that are guaranteed to shuffle up those feet. Relentless and in the best way possible, Ready Or Not delivers it pounding like it should be, and as always with that Nemo signiature blend of funk and function! Here I Come builds like a storm, at once dark and brooding yet with an airy, uplifting feeling throughout. Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean! Music only shows the way life has shaped us. And if taking into account what producing music involves, permeability turns out to be unavoidable. And there is much of this in Logical Disorder’s work: a clean and honest evolution from that first EP on Nulogic back in 2006, more epic and on the fringe of post-industrialism, to most recent work on the German Crazy Language or the Spanish Human Manipulation Label. But it is in this new EP for Breathe where it offers the best fruit up to present. It keeps its dark grounds, sure, and some clues could be found of this in the very title “Violent Playground”; but Logical Disorder’s latest evolution is more than clear: as it happens with good wine, this guy does nothing but improve. His music, of gloomy atmospheres and few opportunities allowing the light in, has gave way to a much lighter work, sometimes on the verge of dance (“Secret Society” is definitively one the favourite). But more, it shines out in those rhythmically dark moments: the polyrhythm of “Where’s the TV”, “Orwell”’s graphicity, the figurative conjugation closer to the bass’n’keys of “Violent Playground”, which gives name to the EP and is much closer to electronic pop than it might first seem. A work that cannot mislead us with its more-melodic-than-usual intro “Ghost Planet”, since the outro “Wordplay” proves to be the responsible for reminding us of that lyricism the most part of his work show.Vicent Fibla (Spa.RK)
Tags:EPIC, ATMOSPHERIC,

License: Creative Commons | by-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/7003
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/7003

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Violent+Playground/7003
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Breathe/1288
To Build A Fire http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/To+Build+A+Fire/6995 Mon, 01 Feb 2010 00:39:03 +0100
released on BFWrecordings by Post Human Era

released on BFWrecordings by Post Human Era
Post Human Era is the work of brothers Daniel and Michael Finfer. The is music best described as "post-pop". People who write-off hip-hop as idiotic, materialistic, violent or misogynistic are only getting a small slice of what it’s about. Since hip-hop has become international there are a wide array of ideas about what hip-hop should be today in 2009 and beyond. Anyone who has ever enjoyed the music will gladly give you their opinion about what “real” hip-hop is. Truth be told, after 30 plus years of existence, there is no “real” hip-hop. Hip-hop emcees, DJs and producers come from all walks of life. With such a wide variety of backgrounds, there can be no definitive hip-hop sound. Since there can be no definitive sound, there’s no reason to disregard hip-hop music that uses classic New York blueprints as the jump off for something fresh and new. Just as there’s a place for rock artists to try and capture a classic 60s and 70s vibe in their new recordings, there’s certainly a place for hip-hop producers, DJs and emcees to try and capture a vibe that’s widely regarded as classic.
With “Classic Material Vol. 3: UI Radio”, CM aka Creative, his various collaborators and producers all present to you hip-hop that’s both new and classic. Musically it reflects back to an early/mid 90s sound, topically, it captures all that a young, struggling and striving American emcee has on his mind. It’s the 3rd part in a series of releases which began at the netlabel Random Flow.
When it became clear to CM that Random Flow had become inactive, he approached me about releasing Vol. 3 through blocSonic. Having enjoyed both Vols. 1 & 2, I was instantly interested. I hope you’ll enjoy this release as much as I do. If you dig it, be sure to check out the previous volumes.
Thanks to CM for coming to blocSonic. Thanks to you for downloading and enjoying. As always, share this release with anyone and everyone.

The Overcast Project http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/The+Overcast+Project/6967 Fri, 29 Jan 2010 14:35:10 +0100
released on blocSonic by Formula

released on blocSonic by Formula
Ladies and gents, allow me to introduce to you the latest member of the blocSonic family, Formula. A producer extraordinaire hailing from London. This here is his premiere solo release and our second original. If you’ve been following our netBloc series for a while, you’ve most-likely heard “Is It Too Late For Us All?” from the collaborative project that he was part of (along with Boston’s own Tha Silent Partner), MUTE. It was featured on “netBloc Vol. 15: this album won’t eat your gas money”. Welcome him back with what I’m quite confident you’ll think is one fantastic release. Hip-Hop on another plain… from another perspective… but real boom bap hip-hop none-the-less. From the introduction “Ebony Shards”… to “X Man”, there’s not a boring or weak moment to be found.
To me “The Overcast Project” feels like the perfect follow-up to Just Plain Ant’s “Dig Deep”. Formula seems to share a similar desire to expand the definition of “hip-hop”. With Formula at it’s core and a talented group of musicians and emcees, Overcast gels into a superbly cohesive unit (much like Ant’s release before it). There IS a “Formula sound” and each of the guest musicians and emcees lend their distinctive touches in such a way as to make the unit stronger.
Sit back and get ready for the journey… the sky may be overcast, but no rain is in the forecast… so enjoy the journey!
Thanks to Formula for allowing blocSonic to handle the release of this gem!
As always, thanks to you for visiting blocSonic and listening to our releases… remember… share this with friends, enemies, parents, siblings, politicians, zombies and aliens… oh… and the rain gods…

Boom To Bloom http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Boom+To+Bloom/6966 Fri, 29 Jan 2010 14:15:56 +0100
released on blocSonic by ETHX

released on blocSonic by ETHX
This fantastic release has been in the works since ETHX first contacted blocSonic back in May. In it you’ll find a few high-profile peeps he’s managed to connect with – folks like Boots Riley who you may know from The Coup, Zumbi from Zion-I and Myron Glasper who’s sung background vocals for everyone from MC Lyte to Blackalicious to Lyrics Born. Among the names you may know, you’ll also find incredibly talented MCs and vocalists who you may not know. Once again, blocSonic brings you real hip-hop with a touch of R&B… this fresh sound comes to you straight out of Northern California.
I want to say thanks to ETHX for approaching blocSonic in the first place and his guests for being part of what’s become “Boom To Bloom”. Welcome to the blocSonic fam!
We hope you enjoy this release and it gets heavy rotation in all your portable devices, CD players and computers. If you dig it, don’t forget to spread the word… share it with anyone and everyone you can.

As you may have already figured, you are about to be moved to the obscure side of ambient music. This record comprehends a rich spectre of those elements that formed the genre: dismal drones and dreary pads building up a strong atmosphere, some field recordings, some anthropogenic sound effects deliver deeper immersion. Tracks vary from Eastern flavored solemn compositions with chanting voices, woodwinds and ethnic percussion to mysterious futuristic soundscapes. Overall it is a very strong music set for those enjoying the genre or interested in dark side of atmospheric-driven music.
Tags:DARK, This “laglitch EP” could be the presentation of the musical intentions of this trio consisted of 2 rappers, Sano & Chew and [wi-ni] 2.0 in machines. Realized last year, ” laglitch EP ” is a delicious mixture of rap, electro and funk which was of use to them as display, and has also been a way to express everything that made us shout… and, of course, it’s a prelude to what will be in april 2008 their first long playing record.
Tags:HIP-HOP,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/6948
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/6948

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/laglitch+(criu)+ep/6948
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/FreshPoulpRecords/1282
Live at Favela Chic Paris http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Live+at+Favela+Chic+Paris/6947 Wed, 27 Jan 2010 14:21:11 +0100
released on FreshPoulpRecords by Rafiralfiro vs [wi-ni] 2.0

released on FreshPoulpRecords by Rafiralfiro vs [wi-ni] 2.0
This fifteenth release for Fresh Poulp is the story of two guys, the french Rafiralfiro and the spanish [wini] 2.0, loving eachother’s music, and willing to share and to mix their identity and their musical skills. After a first and decisive meeting in Alicante ( Spain ) in early fall 2007, they decided to set a live collaboration as soon as possible, startin with a gig in Paris in the first days of 2008. This event could have been cancelled, requested by a pseudo-collective (Amaze) that didn’t respond to their responsability, but it finally happened due to the restlessness of the two artists. This recording is the product of a week of intensive musical preparation to blend their style into one homogenic alloy, cruising from hip-hop to electro, filled with latin explosions and oriental dubby moods…
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/6947
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/6947

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Live+at+Favela+Chic+Paris/6947
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/FreshPoulpRecords/1282
Fake Media http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Fake+Media/6946 Wed, 27 Jan 2010 14:08:45 +0100
released on FreshPoulpRecords by Normaa

released on FreshPoulpRecords by Normaa
After a first album under the name “Normablock” to the French netlabel Signal Zero and a net ep to the German netlabel Jahtari, Normaa is back for our biggest pleasure. The brother Acosta proposes here a claiming release.
