This investigation parts from a sentence that Alejandro read. Te text talked about an ambient music release and the author described the hearing experience as if "you can't dance this music, it's like sitting on a Glacier and waiting to se how it melts down". So Eemian is this, is an abstract approach on how a glacier should sound like. Moreover, the album has always direct references to those nature phenomena, all tracks are named referencing famous glaciers over the world. Finally the sound of Eemian is a properly crafted collection of textures and drones that smoothly are evolving through time. Remeseiro uses a reduced palette of sonorities even though the depth and structure of the pieces is kept producing an uneasy sensation that time isn't passing by.Finally we are proud to join a work like that to our catalogue because this si the kind of sound we like and the kind of relationships between landscape and sound that we like to defend and promote. A visual artist by trade, Johnny began experimenting in sound in 2006. From that point on, Counterspark has been a project of experimentation in the world electronic music. Rich textures and lush soundscapes with an underlying tone of optimism are all intertwined into the melancholy compositions that are Counterspark.
The sounds of The Halpern Experiment were inspired by a "healing sounds" cassette, found in a thrift store amongst the piles of one hit wonders. Not finding any value in the cassette’s actual listening experience, analog sounds of the worn tape were still intriguing. With the focus on the textural elements of analog cassette and relationships of the melodies of the tape, the project became a healing method in itself. Providing refuge from reality in a swirling world of analog color and warmth, The Halpern Experiment was two years in the making of editing and abstraction.

This one is just begging for a response. Psy-tech ninja Deformaty answers that call, bringing an equally dark tune to the table. With a large portion of acid squelch and a kick thumping away like a heartbeat on overdrive, all layered upon a bed of tribal percussion, the infection is contained, but not without further damage. In a metphorical creation of something from nothing, UK trance guru John Dalling spins a melodic twist on the original biological threat. Feeling the breath of new life, the virus continues to spread, but all is not lost as Chris Firenze steps in to end it all for certain. Wielding his mighty minimal techno weaponry, the threat is contained. It is safe to say, that in this battle there are no losers - and the true winner is you. First produced in March 1999, Thirty One was the debut Hyperterminal track and defined the trademark synth driven Hyperterminal sound. It was Seeking You, produced in September 1999 and released online in December, that slowly brought Hyperterminal recognition and led to a record deal, reaching the dance top ten on MP3.com in 2000 and later top spot on the Vitaminic music download site in 2001. Still hidden we are happy about an upcoming phonocake release by Modul, while we can already listen one of the tracks here.As a debut we can find tracks by diverse local heroes, e.g. Hofuku Sochi, who could be known from his netrelease at Camomille, called the lost tapes. Or welcome revived Sandrow Mitzschke, who could be better known in Dresden as Sören Matschiste. And besides this a smooth nice track by Insect O., which opens the hope for a nice upcoming spring time. Even at that early stage, I knew that I wanted blocSonic to be a bit more than your standard “netlabel”. I didn’t want blocSonic to be completely self-serving… it was to be a promotional vehicle for netlabels, artists and the netaudio culture. However, what I didn’t know was if artists and netlabels were going to be supportive of the compilation idea and send me lossless versions of their music to be included. Happily my worries were for naught. Everyone involved has been extremely supportive over the years and my positive experience with the netBloc series got me thinking about original releases. Our first original release was back in February 2009, Just Plain Ant’s “Dig Deep”. Well here we are nearly a year later and I’ve got another premiere release for you to enjoy and it’s the talented Just Plain Ant bringing it once again!
So what is the Xtended Edition (XE) series? Before answering that question, let me start by explaining why the XE series. In the first 3 years of putting together the netBloc series, I’ve seen netlabels come and go. Some of those netlabels who’ve gone inactive had some very talented artists among their rosters and those artists’ releases have languished since the apparent demise of their labels. That got me thinking about re-releases and what form a re-release would take on blocSonic. I began to think about the many ways that the mainstream music industry have handled it. One particular re-release format that I’ve liked (when Universal has done it with classic albums) is the “Deluxe Edition” series. Universal’s series usually consists of the first disc being the original release and a second disc containing perviously unreleased material – demos, outtakes & alternate versions. Well our XE series is quite similar, though in the future won’t be limited to two discs. Each release in this series will feature the originally released album and at least one other disc containing demos, outtakes, alternate versions & remixes. Where we stray from the “Deluxe Edition” model is that each of ours will also feature completely new album art. As with all our releases, each is made available in three high-quality audio formats — FLAC, 320kbs MP3 & 192kbs MP3.
After deciding to go forward with our own special format of re-releases it was time to approach the artists. Among the releases that got me thinking about re-releases in the first place was Just Plain Ant’s “Fly”. An excellent release he released via Jamendo that I felt was worth more shine. Unfortunately that was not to be. As happens often, artists sometimes grow weary of early releases that they feel no longer represent their sound to the fullest. I could respect that. However, Ant was interested in seeing his terrific Just Plain Sounds release “Songs About Something” re-released in this format. At first I was hesitant, only because my original plan was to resurrect releases from netlabels who’ve shut down. That hesitation didn’t last long though. I quickly adapted the plan to include releases of living and breathing netlabels. However way you look at it, the goal of the Xtended Edition series is to bring more exposure to releases.
With the release of “Songs About Something XE” the evolution of blocSonic continues. This edition of Just Plain Ant’s foray into the world of trip-hop and downtempo delivers over two hours of soulful, chilled beats! Disc one is the original album in it’s entirety and disc two is packed with new Just Plain Ant songs and remixes by RVA (Richmond, Virginia) talents such as Annu, Oh.Bliv, Sleaze and Rowan. We would like to thank those that have given the music an ear to speak. There are many beautiful moments within these melodies that we are glad to convey to those that would hear. Very often the act of creating is a search for something intangible that we wish to make real for ourselves. These connections that may seem abstract, but with so much emotional meaning, are debatably the silent silk that bind us all together reminding us we are alike. We dig deep within ourselves, looking for something that is common, understood, and important. Perhaps we may inspire some joys or sadness, but the fact that we all have an effect on each other, and may choose to share is profound and important. Recently, they made two neuro/techfunk influenced remixes for the 2 years label anniversary remix competition of Influenza Media (a liquid funk label). Naturally that competition was won by artists who made midrange-free liquid funk remixes, fitting the label stylewise. These will come out on Influenza Media in the course of 2010. But even though Mefjus and Bowser did not win, their remixes are way too good to remain unreleased. Kirill Kara-Banchuk belongs to Russian idm flow. Being an expert in sound abstractions and experiments, as well as a talented minimalist artist he makes some kind of synthesis of inner images difficult for perception and interpretation, transferring them into sounds and sharing a part of his rich and individual inward with listeners. Moods, atmosphere, tracks order and the album design are one big picture, resembling a road or ascend from darker deeps into the light, what was represented in the booklet. Music is accompanied by one video clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2INjUMsHuo), visually demonstrating ideas giving start to the entire album. Dismal, black and white pictures, lonesome figures, pressing walls and overall estrangement perfectly illustrate the first track and prepare the listener for sinking into this very powerful and oppressive atmosphere, which weighs upon him in the first half of an album and changes into more comfortable and warmer sound environment as the release moves towards the end. “This release from Vate is really top notch stuff. I dont know if its just cause i have been out of contact for a while, but this really just hit the right note with me. The first track (“Turismo”) is just really trippy and really reminds me of the “trancy” stuff from the early 90’s with a 2007 overhaul. The second track (“Orient Stress“), which is also featured on the previous release from Vate, has a pulsating tribal rhythm with growling basslines set to a slamming breakbeat. Almost industrial in some aspects. These billowing basslines continue through to the next track which is also a standout track.
“Hertz” drops into a more minimal-IDM style and it slowly progresses into more distorted IDM sounds from here onward.
Overall the album is fantastic and its highly recommended. Even if its just for the first few tracks as not all of them will appeal to everyone.”

The five tracks are mainly based on vocals, even though there are no actual lyrics. "kontakt" and "when someone loves you no more" are performed only with his voice, captured with a contact-mic, processed and converted. "when someone loves you no more" begins things with a profound wailing on behalf of anyone who has ever suffered before blooming into some incomprehensible sonic victory. "emporia", "colors that surround you" and "kontakt" are beautiful melodic miniatures and "wilderness of the city" ends it all with strings and a relentless, hypnotic groove. But always is Derrick's voice as the key element in each song, tying everything together.To follow Derrick's advice: The EP serves as a meditation tool to listen to before sleeping.
