Beginnings is the alias and solo project of experimental musician Jon Frost, who creates drifting soundscapes with electric guitar and laptop synths. On this his first official release, Jon adopts a semi-improvised approach by recording passages of solo guitar on-the-fly, then later arranging them with electronic layers of tone, harmony and noise to create a sound that is full of shifting textures and ambient melancholy, designed to accompany the waiting moments of any given day.
Released 25th June 2010.

We're proud to present Jay Phonic's debut release, where he has not only shown us what is inside his shoulder, but also a view into his heart and mind. Of course a bunch of blpsq friends jumped at the opportunity to take his journeys and adapt them into their own personal head trips, forming this release into an epic mosiac of deep thoughtful grooves.
Tags:EXPERIMENTAL, GLITCH, TECHNO, DUB, HOUSE, DEEP, NETLABEL, TECHOUSE,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10372
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10372

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/[blpsq008]+Self+Enhancement+EP/10372
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Bleepsequence/1292
Titel 19 http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Titel+19/10367 Tue, 14 Sep 2010 13:53:26 +0200
released on kreislauf by Carsten Brase und die intoleranten Hater

released on kreislauf by Carsten Brase und die intoleranten Hater

Tags:NOISE, ELECTRO, INDUSTRIAL, ABSTRACT,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10367
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10367

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Titel+19/10367
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/kreislauf/605
Shuffle ep http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Shuffle+ep/10366 Tue, 14 Sep 2010 11:48:23 +0200
released on Acidhardwave by Genghis Acid

released on Acidhardwave by Genghis Acid
Electro-Acid, definetly Acid! Züüngar http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Zuungar/10363 Mon, 13 Sep 2010 16:06:45 +0200
released on terminalstation by Züüngar

released on terminalstation by Züüngar

Züüngar are an Italian drum n bass duo. They explore contamination between jungle beats and an ethnic bluesy sound; by playing Didgeridoo [wood and fiberglass], Baritone Ukulele, Harmonica, Scat singing, Djembe, Kazoo and Spoons.
In their self-titled LP you will recognise stolen samples [from movies, traditional songs, classical music], remixes [like ‘Monkey Island Theme’, ‘Cuccuruccucu’ by Franco Battiato and ‘Trouble so hard’ by Vera Hall] and a lot of quotations [from ‘60’s rock’n’roll to a tribute to the ‘Amen Break’] and odd noises [like an electric shaver, an entry phone and a creaking door].

Tracklist:
1 Duru duru
2 Don’t worry, be Amen
3 Cuccuruccucu
4 Danger drum
5 Taboo
6 Pirati
7 Johnny be Goodman
8 Isola dei monchi
9 La Jungla
10 Il fil di ferro del corpo
11 Trouble so hard

Personnel:
Achille Zoni: Didgeridoo, Harmonica, Microkorg and Percussions.
Marco Rip Turconi: Beats, Vocals, Ukulele, Beatbox and Kazoo.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Rip at Wave Lab Studios [Caronno Pertusella, Varese, Italy].

Symbolic Static Electricity
We start with the assumption that in our society image and appearance mean everything, and designers seem to be the new architects of our cities.
Züüngar [a mongol word that means ‘the left side’] just as the ethnic group that during the 18th century caused a lot of sacks in Chinese territory, chooses to ‘steal’ from the most significant and heavy symbol of ‘900 – the swastika – its graphic interface. This provocation tries to demonstrate the unequivocal power of a symbol that, first of all, lies in the collective subconscious.
Our logo is certainly nearer to Zorro’s ‘Z’ than Hitler’s cross but its chromatic combination and its geometry give to it what we call a “symbolic static electricity”.
This gives it a great visual impact which, up to us, would suggest a consideration about our subservience from the image.
In the perspective of a catharsis, in the live set Züüngar tries to create a ceremonial atmosphere that, through the ritual of dance, gives to our minds freedom from social taboo; in order to reach the pure aesthetic experience. The holy drum’n’bass experience.
‘And we should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.’ [Friedrich Nietzsche]
‘They’re not particular about whether you’re playing a flatted fifth or a ruptured 129th as long as they can dance to it.’ [Dizzy Gillespie]
‘In obsessive rhythms is the key of tribal rites: reigns of shamans and rebellious gipsy musicians.’ [Franco Battiato]

Bassically Yours http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Bassically+Yours/10362 Mon, 13 Sep 2010 13:05:52 +0200
released on rawmatroid by Laszlo Hollyfield

released on rawmatroid by Laszlo Hollyfield
4 new tracks, including a live version, forms this 8th reference of Club sublabel, composed in this occasion by Laszlo Hollyfield: “Bassically Yours EP”
“The EP was created having in mind the more tacky eighties funk, giving it a more current sound using rhythms more marked. Of course, I was influenced by early 90s trance, and I think it shows in whatever i do.”
The melody synth driven to blow and the sharp percussion of Trauma Disco open with force and without any complex this work, with obvious influences from which Laszlo speaks previously.Modabazo is like an acid track, as it sounds, let us gradually in our ears a psychedelic flavor.
In Vaporoso, he seduces us again melodically, this time in a softer way and with the same slightly accelerated bpm of the previous tracks.
As the final track, a live version called Hill Valley: smooth beats and a certain melancholy in the air that close so great “Bassically Yours EP”, a work with a clear and unmistakable retro essence mark of Laszlo Hollyfield.
Tags:TECHNO, DISCO, DEEP HOUSE,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10362
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10362

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Bassically+Yours/10362
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/rawmatroid/788

Since its creation back in 2008 and to my knowledge, This label has never been able to pay its artists while keeping all the incomes for itself. Recently, a dozen of those artists, including myself, decided to ask MMM's distributor (Believe Digital) to pull out all our material from every webshop they are working with (including Beatport, Juno Download, Etc.). So here's this EP back again, now available for free on my own label Perso Records. 1 - La Pente Fatale (Version Alternative) : Alternative version of a track released in 2008 on DeepInDub netlabel (did026).

2 - Otium : I recently found this track on a DVDr full of dust. It was sitting there since fall 2007. I totally forgot about this one... There was another version of the track on this DVDr but this mix seems to better fit in this EP.

3 - Sans Retour : This track from early 2009 was first intended to be part of 'Ala Ned Rex' LP on DeepInDub netlabel (did034). But finally I didn't keep it because I already used the same bass on another (released) track called Ploum.

4 - Hrönir : This 2008 - unreleased yet - track was supposed to be part of a Schall netlabel EP. Instead I choose to release four versions of the same track ('Ekranoplan EP', schall_024).

5 - Autoroute : Bonus track from early 2008.
Tags:TECHNO, DUBTECHNO, DETROIT,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10356
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10356

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/[pr009]+-+Episodes+Perdus+(EP)/10356
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Perso_Records/1425

The Album by The X-Structure----------------------------Released: 2009Album: 07The AlbumThe Album's creation was never implied but happened per chance as some would say, or rather as Starrzan would put it, "It was formed by God's guidance and purpose". Each track in itself was created separately and at completely different times but they all found each other together in a particular order to present a story as old as the begining of humanity up until its salvation and to where we are still today. The Album is also The X-Structure's first attempt at a "live" collaboration with another artist. The artist being the wonderful Jade Q Wang whose calming voice and soothing chants opens up the album to an air of condemnation but at the end of the album true joy is found through being saved from the failure inherent in us all.So enjoy and may the message resonate with you in both the music and also in its meaning.----------// Track listing01. --------------------------------
Released: 2009Album: 03Foreword by Starrzandays of night, also known as days of nightowl, was written somewhere between 2006 and 2007 when nightowl was still venturing alone on his journey through life's many events and perplexing questions. His discoveries during that time would later prove invaluable to The X-Structure's future missions and cleared the way forward for the rest to see that through the darkness in life the light illuminates the goodness throughout it. This album retells some of these stories where he found his name and the days were as night.days of nightnightowl sat perched on the rocky outcrop of the high peak he had just scaled. Catching his breath he studied the view. He sat in awe staring at the giant structures jetting out from the ground. Their presence putting his being into perspective. The sky was a perfect blue. He was somewhere in the wild mountains of the Cape. It had been a tough hike to the top but he made it in the end.As the sun lazily began dropping to the horizon nightowl sat contemplating his life and the events that had brought him to this point. Life had not always been pleasant or easy for him, he recalled. Throughout his early years he had struggled with himself and the acceptance of who he was. There came a stage where he could not bear it any longer. That's when he changed. Not by his own strength or will did this happen. It was something else. Something he had discarded many years before. Something he had never really understood. In his darkest hour he had cried out for help to someone, to someone greater than him, to someone he had left for dead. Then it happened. In the dead of night he was saved from his inner turmoil. Saved by one who he would come to know as his greatest friend and companion. Their adventures together would go on far beyond what he had ever understood to be. So who was this mystery saviour? This ultimate friend? It was in fact, as you might have guessed by now, his creator. The one who had given nightowl the gift of life. The sun had by now left for the day. nightowl shifted his position on the rock. He now lay flat on his back using his backpack as a cushion. The stars were there as they always were. Another sign from his constant companion. He searched the sky for his favourite star. There it was. He found it. The Dog Star, Canis Major, was shinning brightly from its corner in space, Orion's belt always close by. The Southern Cross was not visible yet so he'd have to wait till his favoured constellation came into view. nightowl was grateful for life and the ability to perceive it. He was grateful for the life he had been given and the understanding he now had of it. After the dark times he went through he really understood the good times, illuminated by the light he now saw. He still faced bad things and would most definitely still face many more, but he had now learned a deeper truth to it all and would take on those problems for he knew he would overcome them. By midnight the Southern Cross was faithfully pointing the way south. South to where home was. nightowl smiled and said goodnight. At five the sun started rising over the eastern mountains. nightowl was awake, the kettle already boiling. He sipped on the steaming coffee, greeting the morning air and the One who had made it. He felt rested and excited for the future, for he knew not what might happen but he knew that whatever happened would be for the good. His hike down was easy for he had the strength to do it and in that to do so much more. It all depended on him if he would use it. He had made his choice and would follow it wherever the Spirit of adventure led him.Cover photos by Ladyofspira and chris1990// Track listing01. crossing the rubicon02. live by your word03. nohate nofear04. gumshoe05. reborn06. spiritwalker07. starguard08. tripout09. wildheart
Tags:ELECTRONICA, IDM, TRIP-HOP, DOWN-TEMPO,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10346
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10346

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Earth+Epic/10346
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Bushmen_Records/1424

Released: 2008Album: 02The X-Structure was cruising along the cyber highway on their way back from a sunset surf when they decided to take a new route home. As they were passing by the great metropolis of Webcity the faint allure of a distant song caught their attention. It was coming from somewhere in the city. The voice was intriguing. They had to investigate. Following the mesmerising sounds they soon discovered its origin. Towering high above them stood the formidable mega complex of Creative Commons. Bracing themselves for the unknown they entered the bustling building. All around them fascinating people were moving about and every so often one of the many distinctly uniformed couriers would run past them carry what seemed to be official looking documents. The sweet song became louder as they proceeded. They came to the entrance of a dimly lit room and as they entered a sign indicated that they were now in a place called Ccmixter. A single spotlight lit up a small stage revealing a women sitting dreamily on a chair filling the air with her sweet songs. A small crowd was gathered around her spellbound by her captivating melodies. The members of The X-Structure quietly moved in to the back of the room and took a seat along with the rest of the attentive listeners. As she continued her soulful singing they felt inspired by her words and songs and agreed that they would ask her for permission to take some of her songsalong with them.Afterwards when they spoke she introduced herself as Shannon Hurley and was pleased to hear that they liked her singing. She was also delighted at their request to retell her songs in their own way and she gave them a notebook filled with the songs she had just sung. They thanked her sincerely and bid her farewell, again returning on their journey back home. This then is how The Remix Experiment was born and found within this album is Part 01 of this continuing saga.----------// External SourcesVocal samples obtained from ccmixter.org/shannon-hurleyOriginal songs can be found at shannonhurley.comCover photos by mntbikeracer1// Track listing01. His discoveries during that time would later prove invaluable to The X-Structure's future missions and cleared the way forward for the rest to see that through the darkness in life the light illuminates the goodness throughout it. This album retells some of these stories where he found his name and the days were as night. days of night Nightowl sat perched on the rocky outcrop of the high peak he had just scaled. Catching his breath he studied the view. He sat in awe staring at the giant structures jetting out from the ground. Their presence putting his being into perspective. The sky was a perfect blue. He was somewhere in the wild mountains of the Cape. It had been a tough hike to the top but he made it in the end. As the sun lazily began dropping to the horizon nightowl sat contemplating his life and the events that had brought him to this point. He had made his choice and would follow it wherever the Spirit of adventure led him.
Tags:ELECTRONICA, IDM, DOWN-TEMPO,

License: Creative Commons | by-nc-sa

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10344
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10344

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/days+of+night/10344
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/Bushmen_Records/1424
Westcoast Trip http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Westcoast+Trip/10343 Sat, 11 Sep 2010 16:48:57 +0200
released on Bushmen Records by The X-Structure

released on Bushmen Records by The X-Structure
Westcoast Trip by The X-Structure
--------------------------------------
Released: 2008Album: 01Foreword by Epic BeardSome believe that there is only now and that the past does not matter anymore. It is over and done with. There is no more use for it. I however think it not, for it is our past that makes us who we are today. We should acknowledge it and accept it as who we are. Yet in knowning this we should not let our past keep us bound to our failures and regrets or let it dictate to us what we are to be and do now. We should in fact remember it for what it was and take what beauty there was in those moments now past and carry them forward and onwards in our dreams.Westcoast TripThe music found between the covers of this album is a recollection of the west coast section of a trip that took place in 2006. It was preformed by The X-Structure in mid 2008 as their first assignment under the direction of APE and is therefore also their debut album. Now this is the story of the Westcoast Trip, where two rugged adventurers, Starrzan and Flock, set off on an epic journey between two oceans. It took them from the point of the Cape of Good Hope, all along the westcoast of South Africa, to a small bay known as Elandsbay. On their way they visited the many fascinating towns and places found along the way. Once they reached Elandsbay they surfed its legendary waves, explored an abandoned fishing factory and discovered an ancient Bushmen cave scattered with mysterious and intriguing rock art. They then made their way inland over the wild mountains of the Cederberg, through the valley of Ceres and into the Overberg where they finally reached their mountain retreat at Montagu. From here they travelled to the southern most point of Africa, found at Cape Agulhas, completing their trip between the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. As with all trips they had to head back home but they kept their hearts on the memory of their adventure and their eyes on the beautiful land as it passed them by.(cover photos by Flock)// Track listing01. 15:23:53 +0200
released on restingbell by offthesky

released on restingbell by offthesky
Time is a strange thing. Two and a half years ago (65 releases ago, in netlabel-speak) Resting Bell released offthesky's "rare decay". A timeless and beautiful 4 song EP. I didn't hesitate a second when Jason Corder asked me if I'd be interested in a re-release of his musically related “du-soleil” EP which was originally released via atmoworks back in 2007."du soleil" is not only fully remastered, but it is also extended with three fine remixes from Darren Mcclure, Billy Gomberg and offthesky himself. So all in all around 54 minutes of pure bliss - not really an EP anymore I suppose. As I listened to "du soleil" it was hard for me to believe that this work is even dated. It sounds fresh, gentle and bright with the same timeless quality, you can find in all of Jason’s releases. "du soleil" is a very calm ambient-work with many subtle melodies and musical ideas hiding inside. Last but no least, the three additional remixes are quite stunning: Darren McClure's rework presents a multifaceted structure of evolving and lush tonal climates. Billy Gomberg brings a moody and diffused interpretation with subtle tone resting upon a bed of ash like analog texture. Jason's own perspective is a soft re-synthesis of compositional elements and samples used throughout all 4 pieces in "du soleil". This group of additional treats, makes the perfect landing for a work that certainly stems from somewhere above.
License: Creative Commons | by-nc-nd

m3u: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/m3u/10323
zip: http://sonicsquirrel.net/get/release/zip/10323

Release page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/du+soleil/10323
Label page: http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/label/restingbell/712
Lullabyes for the Sleepless http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/Lullabyes+for+the+Sleepless/10322 Thu, 09 Sep 2010 14:43:49 +0200
released on restingbell by A Western Addition

released on restingbell by A Western Addition
I'm writing these words from Qingdao, China where this collection of songs sound like they're from outer space compared to the syrupy love songs that blast out of the speakers here. These pieces take me back to my years in my studio apartment off McAllister Street in San Francisco. Often, as I'd watch the evening fog roll by pass Twin Peaks out of my kitchen window, I'd play my guitar; and sometimes on those special nights angels would visit, allowing my fingers to miraculously play themselves. The recordings are of various objective quality due to bad recording technique ('Sagano' was recorded on an IPod mic). But when I tried to rerecord some of the songs I discovered that I preferred the original versions because they had the most honest emotion. In the end I decided to just keep them, warts and all, as a document of that time. Basically what you hear is me in my cramped kitchen talking to myself by banging, scraping, and caressing six steel strings on a plank of wood.I don't know where these songs come from; but I know it is a dark restless place. So in that spirit, here is a collection of lullabies for the sleepless who hold a special place in my heart.A Western AdditionMay 2009
License: <a http://sonicsquirrel.net/detail/release/AYTEC-ZERO/10311 Mon, 06 Sep 2010 12:46:39 +0200
released on fish recordings by Aytec

released on fish recordings by Aytec
aytec is born somewhere in austria. at the age of 3 he started to play therattle. quickly he advanced his skills and founded a band with some of hisplay school homies. unfortunately jealousy between the band membersdestroyed the band. disappointed about that, aytec decided to follow hismusical efforts alone. at the age of 7 he was bored about the technical potentialof the rattle and discovered the triangle. he composed whole operas basedon various triangle melodies but did not gain a lot of attention. so he wasdisappointed again and started to try out new frontiers on various instrumentslike the digeridoo, pan pipes, the bagpipe, the tuba, the xylophone, theaccordion, the ukulele, the harp, castanets, cowbells, and some others.after years of practice, at the age of 13, he was able to play numerousinstruments simultaneously but nobody gave him a chance to show hisskills to a live audience. after that he was so disappointed again that he wantedto leave the music behind and become a painter. but he had no talent at allin painting. all his pictures were horrible and ugly. so he tried to sculptstatues of exotic animals but he also failed on this. when he reached17 he went back to making music and began to produce beats on an old computer hisdad donated him. in the beginning his beats and compositions were prettyweak but he discovered the midrange through a fortunate coincidence whenhe tried to sample a thunderstorm. he mixed it with some noises made with hismouth (which he recorded at home with a cheap microphone). he improved a lot inthe following months on base of this discovery. he soon learned a lot about synthsand made more and more midranges with them. hopefully he will now receive theattention he deserves since the day he started to play the rattle.
License: <a
