Yop is a singer/songwriter from Rotterdam. Like some sort of home-made Brian Wilson variety he layers his songs, while at the same time stealing some tricks from the likes of Robert Pollard, Grandaddy, Kristin Hersh, Frank Black and Ray Davies.
This free download is an esc.rec. re-release of the 2006 original that was self-released by Yop, but holds a previously unreleased bonus track to top the cake.

First of all you should realize that this free download is not complete without Midazolam (tracks 8-13). So if you haven’t already, go get it here.
Midazolam feels slightly darker than ssri, Robert Witt’s previous release. But it can easily be more addictive. Crisp, detailed sounds embedded in a warm, ambient bath of bass, soothing and ominous at the same time. I guess the title kind of says it all…

Poke 20 offers an extra dimension in on-line music distribution; a free download album combined with a physical art project and blank CD. Poke 20 is initiated by the Dutch Productiehuis ON in collaboration with independent record label esc.rec.
Poke 20 is the sequel of the C64 Orchestra project in which a classical orchestra played newly arranged C64 game music, such as International Karate, Monty On The Run and Myth. In Poke 20 we re-returned the C64 Orchestra version of the Monty On The Run track to contemporary electronic composers and musicians to create their own remix version.
The Download album:Twenty-one musicians from around the globe have contributed their remix of Monty On The Run (the C64 Orchestra version) and agreed with a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licensed Poke 20 release of their remix. You are therefore free to download, copy, distribute their remix versions but it would be nice to give them a big up if you enjoy their work.
The Art project:Ontwerpatelier designed a poster, remixing artwork supplied by the Poke 20 remixers. This poster serves as packaging for a blank CD. Poster and blank CD are both silk-screened and together they make a nice piece of art in a limited (and numbered) edition of 200 copies. You can order your limited edition poster and blank cd here (for only 10 euro ex. postage) and burn your Poke 20 downloaded tracks on it to complete your own personal piece of art.

The 21st Century is an ongoing audio-project by visual artist Hidde van Schie. This album is a collection of improvisations recorded in 2009. Some solo, some together with Choca Alcazaba or Brendon Blommaert.
The release date of Painting With The Saints coincides with the celebration of Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas). Seemed fitting.

Imagine a life without hearing, seeing, feeling, and emotion. Now take a look at your own daily life. At some point in your day you will reinforce one sense for the lack of another. Take for instance when your reading something, your auditory system reduces while you vision is stimulated. Say if your walking a beautiful park. All of your senses are stimulated because you want to experience the environment as one. Now take one sense (lets say vision) away. Your whole perception of that environment changes drastically. "Life without..." is an attempt to experiences without a certain sense.

Oak Thielbar has been writing music under the name of Saffron Slumber since 2004. Originally started as a project to explore ideas in ambient music, the project has continued to evolve over its lifespan to include aspects of noise, drone, and other forms of experimental composition. Former releases could be found on Pocket Change Records, Skrow!Media, Zenapolae, Luxus-Arctica Records International, and Circlesandlines Recordings. "Somnogen" consists of 6 tracks and has a complete duration of 36 minutes. The first five tracks are three to five minutes long. Beginning with the noisier "Möbius Thought", it becomes more calm and droning with the following three tracks. Fragile melodies are woven together with meandering, droning sounds and glimmering organic patterns. "Onyx" returns to the noisier, darker ambiance of the beginning and serves as a bridge between its melodic predecessors and "Oneiric Sun" - a massive 18-minute track, slowly breathing and evolving from a dark and mellow foundation to a burning star and back again. Enjoy this wonderful and warm piece of drone- and ambient-music.
