While the media has been full of Obama’s ‘triumphant’ visit to Europe, or the scandal about Dominique Strauss-Khan, they have not told us much about the real earthquake hitting Europe: a vast social movement which is centred in Spain but which is having an immediate echo in Greece and threatens to break out in other countries as well.

The events in Spain have been unfolding since 15 May with the occupation of the Puerto del Sol Square in Madrid by a human wave made up mainly of young people rebelling against unemployment, the Zapatero government’s austerity measures, and the corruption of politicians. The movement spread like wildfire to all the main cities in the country - to Barcelona, Valencia, Grenada, Seville, Malaga, Leon – making use of social media like Facebook and Twitter, and videos uploaded onto Youtube; and that’s largely how we have got information about the movement outside of Spain, because the bourgeois media have pretty much imposed a black-out on the events. If they would far rather have us thinking about Obama, or Dominique Strauss Kahn, or the travails of Cheryl Cole, it’s because this movement represents a very important step in the development of social struggles and of the combat of the world working class faced with the dead-end that is capitalism. //internationalism

MagicVan returns to BFW with another highly original and entertaining collection of recordings.
How to describe this? Well, I have described MagicVan as BFW's Captain Beefheart - a description he has not taken offence too (yet!), so I'm sticking to it.
All I suggest is that you download, listen and make up your own mind.
There is much more to come from MagicVan over the next few months.

MagicVan is the music of visual artist Taren McCallan-Moore (to see his art, click the link to his blog below).
To describe his music is just about an impossible task as you just don't know what you are going to hear next - sound collages, distorted electronics or pretty much deranged ramblings - but this music is just about the most entertaining thing you'll find on BFW recordings.
That is, of course, just my opinion. Listen and make up your own mind!

5 Dozen Bite-Sized Sonic Sculptures, or 5DBSSS for short, is the brainchild of Wisconsin’s very own deep woods dwelling, dog herding canoeist and all round Cyber-Geek, Doug Sharp. Between now and some time in the future Doug will be constructing 5 groups of 12 miniature sound collages. These will be released as individual sets and once all 5 are available will be collected into one BIG package along with all of the artwork and a whole bunch of remixes of the Sonic Sculptures. There may even be videos as well.

Comes with the really quite fantabulous front, rear and project artwork. Oh yeah!

Di ritorno dopo il suo “Impro - Interferenza sull' Inno Nazionale” uscito il 17 marzo su AlchEmistica, Sergio Sorrentino partecipa al Guitar Improvvisation Project con un lavoro sofisticato e articolato in ben otto tracce che lo vedono suonare sia la chitarra elettrica che la classica.

Sergio firma quindi la nostra sesta uscita per improvvisazioni chitarristiche dimostrando come questa forma musicale stia lentamente ma irresistibilmente conquistando ormai anche ambiti che finora le erano alieni come la musica classica e la contemporanea.

Musica cinematica, fluida, coinvolgente e allo stesso tempo interessante, innovativa proiettata nel presente ma con un forte legame col passato come dimostra l'” Hommage à Maderna”.
