Five Senses Remixed

Two Marc Burt classics get the remix treatment courtesy of Notch and Marc himself. Notch reworks Five Senses, adding dirty electro bass to create a pumping, slightly dark house anthem. Marc is on hand to add the perfect antidote with a clean and slightly minimal retro trance remake of the same track, adding building analogue arpeggios. To complete our EP, Marc turns his hand to his 2010 track, 36 Miles, reworking it into an uplifting progressive trance tune with melodic synth riffs while retaining the catchy lead hook. As always, all tracks are available to download free of charge and use in your own non-commercial projects under a Creative Commons licence.

EE7A returns to follow up his debut Drive EP with another four track release full of analogue techno mayhem. Kicking off the EP, Lean matches bleepy and slightly melancholic arpeggios with a pulsating groove driven by techno hi-hat rhythms. A-113 takes a more minimal, acidic turn with squeakily distressed riffs set against an electro beat. Divide By Zero picks up the pace with a throbbing kick, hectic hi-hats and distorted snare providing the rhythms for machine driven synth grooves. Clandestine Operation ends the EP on a slightly calmer note, with deep tech rhythms and metallic percussion evoking that late night atmospheric vibe.

This EP features three uplifting progressive house cuts from Aerologic. Kicking off proceedings, Carousel builds with a trance-style riff and edgy bass, before breaking down into a lush pad section with soaring chords and then launching into an uplifting arp section. Emotions Taking Over builds with pumping bass drops, vocal snippets and synth plucks before introducing haunting pianos and pads, finishing with an infectious melody and warm, sizzling sidechained chords. For the closing track, White Label, Aerologic joins forces with Notch to combine progressive house with deep house and old school influences. Launching with a classic retro stab pattern, then bringing in uplifting analogue chords and a upfront bassline, the track then changes direction with plucky deep house riff and bright hi-hats.

Art Electronix come back releasing with our netlabel offering you a straight remix EP of one of their tracks. Just like the style of the genre, this release is the stirring in various forms of the primal matter of the first track, and still it renders a powerful shot of all the Artist’s feature.

But let Egene and Katerina themselves tell about the concept of “Inside The Box EP:

«At the end of this summer our colleague from Poland (who works under the pseudonym Ixirell) wrote to us to send him samples from the title track. After that, we invited another DJ and musician from Ukraine (Breaksage) to write down his version as well.

The cover was developed by the VJ Lena Dzhurina.

The concept of this work is primarily in the minimalism and psychological mental hooks, which often have to be worked out by creative people working with a limited set of tools. Thus, the idea of this collection is an example of how a musician using a small set of instruments, depending on personal perceptions, skills and psychological qualities, is able to come up, develop and transform a certain musical idea, inviting an outside observer to immerse himself in the inner world of the creator and his approach.

And it is this minimal approach that suggested the title of the track, since the music was made using only two box devices (a bass synth and a drum machine).
We recently learned about the experiment of Ludwig Wittgenstein, who showed that people are not able to understand each other to the end.
This experiment was called “The Beetle in a Box” and we were interested in the concept that there are many interpretations of how the creative idea should develop and only when compared with already known paradigms a person can make some sort of conclusion, such as: it's original, and it is primitive, or it pleases, and it saddens, but these conclusions can still be wrong or misunderstood.

Therefore, we decided to tie together the idea of imperfection of human relations, the frequent inability to correctly understand one's inner world and the chance to minimalism, as a way to return to the source. To that state without piling up with all sorts of concepts, where you can try to realize what kind of "Beetle or bug" is inside your box, and also whether you can be considered a beetle what lies in your neighbor's box».

From A Logical Point Of View

The sound of melting floe, captured by a hydrophone, crackling under seagull cries that sound like a female enchanting voice that repeats the same words continuously, a gentle mermaid calling towards fatal cliffs, and whirring sounds rotating like ghost ships passing. The landscape is white and grey and cold but open to a myriad possibilities of northern lights and very distant fires in the sky.

There are fowls somewhere and there is a boundless landscape in "Monism", the first track in Jørgen Brønlund Quartet's album "From a Logical Point of View".

It is a jamboree of field recordings and soundscapes, a trip underwater which sounds like a trip within ourselves, with little or no time at all for useless dithering. Nothing yields to even the most extreme concept of music as we know it here, where all is noise and pure sounds and those seagulls repeating the same incantantion as the only example of anything even remotely passable as rhythm.

"Stimulus", the other track in the album, features the same seagull cries as a counterpoint to the improvised noises and sounds that make up the textures of this piece of listening experience. The sea is faraway this time, factories and metal tunnels are the facilities in this new scenery, the sounds are those of muffled metal and old geiger counters sparkling.

This is music which redefines the very concepts of music itself. An aural/emotional experience more than listening as we are accustomed to. An exploration of what can be achieved in musical terms by using sparse sounds, minimal noise and a lot of space. Aerologic and Notch present two remixes of classic Psychadelik Pedestrian vocal tracks in this Toucan Music netlabel release. Notch takes the reins for a deep house reworking of Psychadelik Pedestrian's 2010 track Tears In My Heart, retaining the uplifting melodies and haunting female vocal refrain while adding crisp and punchy deep house beats bringing the track bang up to date. Aerologic is on hand for a remix of Psychadelik Pedestrian's 2011 track Upside Down, featuring vocals from Snowflake and originally released on the Transient LP, adding progressive house synth riffs and rhythms to the vocals. Download both tracks free of charge and released under a Creative Commons licence for you to re-use in your DJ sets, podcasts and videos for non-commercial use.

Producing entirely in hardware, with no soft synths, this EP features three original tracks from EE7A with frenetic driving drum machine percussion blended with gritty, overdriven techno riffs and arpeggios. 110 is a harder techno flavoured workout with energetic hi-hat driven beats, while Default has a driving minimal trance feel, and 68 features bleepy, acid riffs and stabs. Also included is a remix of JAde Wii track Blue Leaves, combining a catchy hook and soulful melody with edgy, driving techno beats.

“Beaches”, “Temples” and “Three” are the titles of Torn Vega’s first three albums, which all are presented right here. They have been produced in 2017, within just one year. Because of this temporal and musical closeness why not calling them a loose trilogy?

What made this extraordinary output? Creative hurry as a need! At this time Torn brims with song ideas, which scream for realisation. Just with a high work pace for his productions as a rule of game, he can cope with all his ideas in equal measure to save the tension between them.

Torn does not slow up with “cutting”. His diamonds stay rough. And therefore his often still like potential hits well arranged songs contain the immediate, the spontaneous and the wild of the recording sessions: delicious rock’n roll ingredients like easy improvisations, free performed texts, unpolished first take guitars, digital hiss, shreds of words or provoking noise escapades. Creative hurry as means of work!

This ambivalence also occurs in the lyrics. In German and English Torn touches on stories, which often stay mysterious, appear like being fragmentarily or improvisationally performed or just can be adumbrated sunken in rich sound. Shoegaze! He likes to play with irony und irritates with a mix of possibly autobiographical or fictitious content. But then fully pop star again Torn puts on a show, when in his texts he slips into rolls, representing the guy, who knows what’s going on, or the one, who is far too rich to be interested in anything.

Torn does not hide his inspiration. On his albums he hints on artists like The Beach Boys, Suicide, Velvet Underground or Stooges. And also japanese psych rock bands like Les Rallizes Denudes, White Heaven or The Stars have a strong influence on him. But he never wears out in just emulating this music. Torn is creating his very own sound: risky, experimental, new. And with his music he draws a flashy bow from almost schlager-like Beat Music, over Broken Dilletante Lofi Rock up to Drone Guitar Noise. Strangely intimate. Unadapted and mainstream.

Without ambiguity “Three” is Torn’s third album. After his largely on guitar and singing reduced second album “Temples”, here he picks up the moods from his first album “Beaches” again, but adds his very own idea of pop to all even more.

In contrast to the other two albums “Temples” impresses with its reduced instrumentation consisting just of vocals, rough acoustic guitars and percussion. You may think of Velvet Underground or (like I do) of Beck Hansen and his lofi blues and singer-songwriter songs from the early 90ies.
