With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name "Sirius" is derived from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios ("glowing" or "scorcher"). The star has the Bayer designation Alpha Canis Majoris (α CMa). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of a white main sequence star of spectral type A1V, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, called Sirius B. The distance separating Sirius A from its companion varies between 8.1 and 31.5 AU.
Sirius appears bright because of both its intrinsic luminosity and its proximity to Earth. At a distance of 2.6 parsecs (8.6 ly), as determined by the Hipparcos astrometry satellite, the Sirius system is one of Earth's near neighbors; for Northern-hemisphere observers between 30 degrees and 73 degrees of latitude (including almost all of Europe and North America), it is the closest star (after the Sun) that can be seen with a naked eye. Sirius is gradually moving closer to the Solar System, so it will slightly increase in brightness over the next 60,000 years. After that time its distance will begin to recede, but it will continue to be the brightest star in the Earth's sky for the next 210,000 years.
Sirius A is about twice as massive as the Sun and has an absolute visual magnitude of 1.42. It is 25 times more luminous than the Sun but has a significantly lower luminosity than other bright stars such as Canopus or Rigel. The system is between 200 and 300 million years old. It was originally composed of two bright bluish stars. The more massive of these, Sirius B, consumed its resources and became a red giant before shedding its outer layers and collapsing into its current state as a white dwarf around 120 million years ago.
Sirius is also known colloquially as the "Dog Star", reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the "dog days" of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians it marked winter and was an important star for navigation around the Pacific Ocean.

Time To Express
Recurring Crazy-Language artist, prolific producer and label owner of Plataforma-LTW, Madrid based Rec_Overflow returns with his LP "Unemployed": a sumptuous melancholic dance record, blending hip-hop with modern glitch aesthetics, dropping at any given instance the classic dubstep LFO, bringing a fresh chiaroscuro perspective to what could’ve become a familiar album.
The attention to detail should keep the braindance freaks pleased but it is a surprisingly self-constrained record on this aspect, to a degree where you could play these on a dance floor and still be pleased on a whole different level. It’s all classical Rec_Overflow style with a distinct evolution of his ideas and genres he approaches. But there are still surprises at hand: singer Norbert Kristof was hijacked to participate on five of these songs, to see his voice robotized, pitched and manipulated on all sorts of sonic mutilation, to reaffirm the ‘voice’ of this album. A pleasant surprise without being too intrusive. Fans of Crazy-Language and of Rec_Overflow’s sound may have found another little classic to their discography. (F.G.)

He is supporting our team for some weeks and now it is the time to present his very first own EP-Release. "Fearplay" is also the name of the first track and it leads you to his very own world with the help of relaxing and hypnotic grooves, followed by "Killing the Godfather", which comes along with some kindly guitar sounds. The Chain is a continuing collection of songs following on from one another.
A name was chosen at random from the list of musicians who wanted the take part. That musician (Spooky Child) had three weeks to write and record a completely new song.
The first song submitted was be passed along to the second musician who had three weeks to create a second song inspired by or using parts of the first song.
The second song was passed along to the third musician who created a third song inspired by or using parts of the second song.
And so on...
The only people to hear each song will be the person who creates it, the next person in the chain and 'the team' here at BFW recordings. To that end, we only publish a finished song once three more songs are complete - hence, now that 13 songs are finally complete, we are releasing the first 10 as The Chain volume 1.
The Chain is an ongoing project and we are still looking for musicians who can and want to take part. If you want to take part or have any questions, send us a message at bfwrecordings@gmail.com. And I know that, whether or not they are ready to admit, many people have been here before…
Abstract music is just that; abstract. The artist can make suggestions, in titles and artwork, but in the end, the listener holds all the power. Once the needle drops, or the headphones slip on, the creator can only hope that they’ve done their due diligence in getting what they need across, be it as abstract of concrete as they like.
So that begs the question; is it futile to try and paint the picture; to create a concrete place described in sound? Perhaps that’s a question left to rhetoric, but in regards to this work by Clayton Alpha, it may not wholly be the case. He makes a compelling argument for his creation. His thesis is strong. I can feel his ground under my feet. I can smell the air, sense the familiar architecture. His conclusion, like the ground, is solid.
We can compare notes later…for now, enjoy the landscape.
