ABOUT DYSTIMBRIA: Dystimbria is a netlabel offering works by composers exploring sounds between what might be called 'noise music' and 'ambient music. Each release on this netlabel appropriates sound sources from previous releases on the label, so every release is inter-connected with the others. SOUND SOURCES: DYS003 Kid Feardive "Triceratops" DYS004 Le Berger "Cheptel Éparpillé" DYS006 Alan Morse Davies "Llais-saL" DYS008 Mutant Beatniks "Rainbow Vomitorium" DYS009 Post-Avantist "Vasiform Rima" DYS011 Miquel Parera Jaques "nxIDys-2012-03-09_04_25_09" DYS013 Phillip Wilkerson "A Brief Compendium of Silence" ARTIST STATEMENT ON METHOD: I took about 5 minutes of each of the 7 compositions, and extracted bits from which I then created loops.  Those are the repeating motifs you hear throughout the duration of the piece. The basis of the track is the sample of Alan Morse Davies - "Llais-saL" which I put through the amplitute modulation of the effects section of sound forge.  I set the value in the slow modulation section to 0.2, used pitch bend going down an octave and didn't preserve the duration.  After I had placed the loops into different places throughout the file, a process that I was trying to make random even though I didn't want the loops themselves to be random, I then reversed the whole file and mixed the two together.  I'm sure somewhere in that whole process I used reverberation.
